I’ve come to think of cloud computing as a system of control. The reference to the line in “The Matrix” aside, there is a reason to discuss the role of systems and the notion of control in emerging IT infrastructure and services."

Cloud Computing is about security and control. The cost savings are incidentally in capital expenditures. Control and management of information with efficient use of IT infrastructure are the real reasons for virtualization. This article does a good job of explaining this.
